What you will learn

Every voice is different, so every lesson is paced to the singer. As a guide, here is how a singing journey usually unfolds with weekly lessons.

  • Beginner. Breathing and posture, finding your natural pitch, gentle warm-ups, and singing your first songs with confidence.
  • Intermediate. Control across your range, tone and dynamics, harmony and timing, and carrying a song from start to finish.
  • Advanced. Stylistic technique across pop, musical theatre and classical, stagecraft and microphone work, and exam or audition preparation.

Private or group

Most singers learn one-on-one, because the voice is deeply personal and progress is fastest when every warm-up and song is chosen for you. Private lessons run for 30 minutes weekly, with longer lessons available on request.

Group lessons are a warm, more affordable way to begin, and singing alongside others is wonderful for confidence and harmony. Tell us what suits you and we will match you with the right instructor.

Exam pathways, only if you want them

For singers who thrive on a goal, our instructors prepare AMEB and Rockschool vocal grades, covering repertoire, technique, aural training, sight-singing and performance. It is a clear way to measure progress and build real discipline.

Just as many singers never sit an exam, and that is completely fine. Plenty of people simply want to sing the songs they love, and our teachers meet you exactly where you are.

Good to know

Singing lesson questions, answered

What age can my child start singing lessons?

Most children are ready for focused one-on-one singing lessons from around age 7 to 8, once the voice has settled a little and they can follow a short lesson. Younger children are welcome to start gently, and ages 3 to 5 begin beautifully in our Mini Musos early-childhood classes.

Do I need anything to start singing lessons?

No. Your voice is the one instrument you already own, so there is nothing to buy or carry to your first lesson. Just bring yourself, a water bottle and any songs you love to sing.

Which styles of singing do you teach?

Everything from pop and musical theatre to classical. Your instructor shapes the warm-ups and songs around the music you love, so lessons always feel like yours.

Do you prepare students for singing exams?

Yes. For singers who want them, our instructors prepare AMEB and Rockschool vocal grades, covering repertoire, technique, aural training and performance. Many singers also sing purely for enjoyment, with no exams at all.

I feel nervous about singing in front of someone. Is that okay?

Completely okay, and very common. Lessons are private, patient and free of judgement, and confidence is one of the first things good singing teaching builds. That self-belief tends to carry well beyond music.
